My Everyday Beautiful

Inspired by Mother's Day

I was going to write this post yesterday, but ran out of time. (You know how that goes). I felt it was important to pay tribute to my little family that has made it possible for me to be a mother. They are also the ones who can help me feel beautiful on those rough days. Who remind me what being beautiful is truly about.

It started with this man...

This guy right here. Even when I'm not wearing makeup, my skin is blotchy, hair frizzy, and I'm wearing the much debated yoga pants...he still tells me I'm beautiful and means it. And I know he's talking about much more than my appearance. Love him. That love is part of what makes me beautiful.

And then there's this little guy...

Unconditional love personified. The smiles, the sudden hugs around the legs or neck, and kisses. How he comes to me for comfort, asks me to sing to him when he's having trouble sleeping, that he's finally calling me Mom after a stint of only calling for Dad. There are definitely rough times and exhaustion, but being mom to this kid puts everything in perspective. He doesn't care that I don't look like a super model. He just cares that I love him and that's a big part of what real beauty is all about. Love.

And finally...

Being pregnant isn't exactly comfortable and this one has been pretty rough in fact. Yet there's something so miraculous about having a little life growing inside of you that creates it's own beauty. I won't meet this baby for another three months, but I love he/she so much already. Love = beauty.

I know not everyone has, or even wants, the opportunity to be a mother or father. Not everyone is married or in a committed relationship either. That doesn't mean we can't all experience the beauty of love. There are people in our lives that we can open our hearts to, to whom we can give love and receive love back. And in that loving, we find true beauty.

What's your everyday beautiful?

Note: My husband gets credit for the two pictures of me with my munchkins. He's pretty talented.
